
Barr. Austel Elumelu graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State. He thereafter proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Lagos from where he graduated and was called to the Bar in 1988. He is therefore a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He is also a very active member of both the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
Barr. Elumelu started his professional career with the Nigerian Re-insurance Company Ltd as a Youth Corper in 1988 where he served meritoriously. Thereafter he started his legal practice with Ms Ndubuisi Umeh & Co, a law firm based in Lagos.
To enhance his career profile, he joined Panasonic Industries Ltd, an electronic manufacturing outfit as Company Secretary and Legal Adviser. He is currently a Director in Dennis Hotels and Ausdave Ltd.
Barr. Elumelu is a versatile sportsman having captained football teams both at secondary school and tertiary levels, and captained Nigeria Re-insurance football club while doing his National Youth Service (NYSC). He actually had a stint of professional football with both Stationery Stores and First Bank football clubs. He is a multi-musical instrumentalist and to date holds the singular distinction of being the first Nigerian FIFA Accredited Football Agent. He was the National Co-ordinator of the U-17 team that won the 2007 junior Nation's Cup and currently the National Co-ordinator for U 23
